What I believe to be the biggest reso ( I don’t have the dimensions of the Dobro basses made in the 30s) and probably the largest ‘Hot Plate ‘ cover plate needs a new shed to live in. It has an 18” spun aluminium cone ( ok it was the top of a boiler, but it is spun aluminium ) The build quality is was you might expect from someone making a joke instrument during a slack day at work. (It’s the one on the left) At the moment it is tuned to a sort of Dobro tuning down at octave ( it sounded better to pitch but I thought it might improve an octave down as the cone is so large- it doesn’t but another set of strings would double its value. Free to good home ( ok happy for it to go to a bad one ) Collection from Cambridge It has a Danelectro pickup, (Chinese) so is worth at least £30 for parts! I think I did a video of it when I made it 5-10 years ago, might be on the forum somewhere. Pete

If this doesn’t find a new home by November 5th it’s going of the fire!
Pete
I will of coarse remove the pickup,m/heads and any plastic bits ( the metallic plastic cover plate was once a large convex mirror to help car drivers on a blind corner)

I've shared this discussion on the Steel Guitar Forum. I hope it does find a new home, but my apartment in San Francisco is definitely not the place.
