I recently acquired a minty used The Loar LH-200 SN from my local Guitar Center here in San Francisco. Printed on the label under the soundhole is "Serial Number 000089, Designed by Greg Rich. Made in Korea." I went looking for historical references about this model, and called The Music Link here in California, the company that currently builds and distributes The Loar and Recording King guitars. The guy I spoke with informed me that all of the production models of The Loar LH-200 guitars came out of China between 2010-2017 and the LH-200 (and LH-250) were discontinued in 2018. He informed me that my Made in Korea LH-200 SN was a one-off pre-production prototype. Brands that build guitars overseas will try out different factories to get baseline prototypes built, and select the final factory based on price, volume turnaround, etc. The LH-200 I have was finished with nitrocellulose at the Korean factory in 2009, and that finish was more expensive than the polyurethane finish Chinese factory used on the final production models labeled "Made in China."

Long story short: The Loar LH-200 SN (and LH-250 SN) is a very sweet guitar and is comparable in tone, performance, build quality, and heritage to the much more expensive Martin CEO-7 or Gibson L-00 guitars.
