Warm harp tone through vocal mic

I’ve been looking for something like this for a while. I only play a couple of numbers on harp so don’t want to have to take another amp and mic to gigs . The answer was to get a box that goes between the mic and the PA that gives the mic a warm ‘valve’ tone. This unit does it (almost) exactly as I want. The only minor criticism is that it is designed for a powerful harp mic, rather than an SM58, so I have to turn the gain to maximum to get any distortion.

Might do a quick video of it working with the SM58.
The unit has a button marked ‘mute’ there is a internal switch that turns this into a bypass, so you can have clean or ‘dirty ‘ tones. I guess this might be good through a standard harp amp set fairly clean, at the press of the button you could then get a more distorted tone without messing with your amp settings.

USED TO BE, i would recommend the EHX English Muff'n for trickery such as this. had a PRE and POST gain control run through a cascading treble-mid-bass EQ based on Vox AC 30 tone stack. two valve power that could be changed for ANY 12__7 tube combination. ran under $200 when new and used ones were about 25% less.

then i priced them recently and found that EHX stopped production in 2021. the used ones must be platinum plated now. can no longer promote same.

So here we have the SM58 through the box. It gives a lot of control with its 4 band eq. so hopefully no more squeals when I cup the mic for harp playing.
