Luckily for the world there's only one! Shine On Michael Some years ago I made a reso out of a bowl back guitar. I did several things that I thought would give it more power and a great tone. 1) the well started as a 9 1/2” but was opened out to form a sort of trumpet shape ( to give more volume) 2) a larger than standard cover plate ( so more sound could come out) 3) 2 necksticks, for better support under the well 4) a brass top bonded to the old wooden top for extra stiffness It sounded unremarkable and is hanging in bits in my workshop Pete

Jeebus Christo on a unicycle. I want some of what he's smoking.
Beware of buying other people's failed experiments, kids.

I know I can’t say stuff like this anymore but we used to say fill ‘em up with cement and use them as an anchor (ovations ) just a bunch of young Martin snobs we were … Washing up bowls with guitars stuck on the front! But.....in Bob's hands it sounded beautiful ....and Joan made hers sound pretty good too. They were very popular in the 70s because it was the first time you could successfully amplify an acoustic guitar without a mic or a soundhole pickup. The science was right, but the instruments weren't. Shine On Michael

Just shows that a lot of talent, soul and a pair of hands can make a silk purse out of a sows ear. p.S. Nice to hear 'Love and Afffection' in it's entirety too, without some inane nameless DJ talking over the sax solo and coda innit?
