I read the post about Royall resonators with interest, especially Michael's comments about quality control.
Way back in 2008 or thereabouts I bought a B stock MM Blues. It looked perfect to me and when I sold it the buyer said it looked perfect to him too.
I bought a uke last week and it had the following issues -
# the 7th fret marker was missing,
# the 12th fret marker was damaged,
# the 12th fret side of neck markers were uneven,
# the 3rd string was dull, the intonation on the 3rd string was terrible when fretted.
# the case didn't fully open so it was difficult to get the uke out of the bag and the edge of the uke touched the zip so would have eventually scratched.
Not much quality control there! Z stock.
I haven't named the make - the seller was apologetic and repaid me without any quibbles. But it does illustrate the benefit of buying from somebody who has excellent quality control.

I too bought a second hand B stock MM Blues'28 and it took me two weeks to see why it had been downgraded. Nobody else has spotted the flaw yet and that was last decade when I got it.

I'm just a fussy ba***rd and while I do own a guitar company, I do not really consider myself to be a dealer as such.
