My local has a craft beer with this name and one of its main consumers had not heard Robert Johnson's recording.
They have now

A good bitter (London Pride eg) would be better than a craft beer to tune me into some good tunes!

Hi there !
I remember myself and my duo bandmate, Prof Scratchy, had a gig down in or around Banbury, Oxfordshire once, during a Banbury Blues Featival, circa 22-25yrs ago. It was a bit quiet in the bar but a group of about 6 guys came in, all wearing T-shirts, that had the name Robert Johnson written on them. They all sat down, huddled together at a table, having a beer or two, seemingly uninterested in the blues music we were playing - even when my bandmate played a few Robert Johnson numbers, solo, rather expertly & authentically. Eventually these guys with Robert Johnson T-shorts got up and left, without saying a word, or even looking at us. A friend ran out of the pub to speak to them and find out why they didn’t seem interested in us. They said they didn’t like blues music. So, why the Robert Johnson T-shorts, he asked ? They all worked at the local Robert Johnson Butchers shop !!!
You can’t make this stuff up !

You're right, you couldn't make this stuff up. Shine On Michael

Had Johnny Johnson playing with us in the first beat group I played in in 1963. Haven't heard the term 'beat group' for while. I was in a 'rhythm group' around that time and still have an obligatory calling card. One of my friends was trying to get into Switzerland in the late 60s and ran into a language barrier at the frontier. This was allegedly resolved when they pointed to the band van and declared 'Inglaterra Beata Groupo'. Cheers
