Shane MacGowan performing in 1989 CREDIT: Gie Knaeps/Getty Images Shane MacGowan - 1957-2023Sad news. However, considering the way he abused his body, it was amazing Shane lasted so long. I got to know Shane for a while in 1989 when the Pogues were recording Peace & Love at RAK studios in London. I was recording an album in the next studio and we shared time and space in the lounge and recreation area. I got on well with Shane and although he was often completely off his face, we had some great conversations about music and life. A sweet and passionate soul. One of the great songs that Shane wrote and recorded. This one is a masterpiece. Now they are both gone, Shane and Kirsty. Love this...with the Dubliners sing The Irish Rover Shane MacGowan >RIP ---------------------- Shine On Michael

I really liked those early albums as well as his albums after leaving the Pogues. He also sang on a Bap Kennedy song called On the Mighty Ocean Alcohol. I always find time to revisit his music. Thankful for Shane and all the musicians that put this music out in the universe.
