Hi all,
A National M1 has appeared for sale in a local music shop - it's a 2018 model, no cutaway and no pickup, that the owner has priced at 3.2k (euros).
Now, it's a brilliant guitar and in good condition, but 3.2k puts it well over the value of any of my other guitars. Having said that, the M1 has always been a dream guitar for me, so I'm really on the fence.
So I guess my question is - at this price, is it a good buy? If I decide that it's not for me, will I make a big loss if I try to flip it down the line? Someone help me make these big life decisions!
Thanks everyone! Stephen

Hi Stephen. Sitting on the fence can be painful, especially if you've got GAS! You seem to know and like this guitar and have a hands on opportunity to try it out. Also you should have some idea of it's worth if you've been looking out for one I imagine. If it's your dream guitar why are you thinking about selling it before you buy it π€? Cut to the chase:when will you see another one? Can you afford it? Can a deal be made? Unless you're sure about going ahead pass on it. Then you can spend months wishing you had bought it after someone else has! Hope this has helped, John, never been known to pass up a good guitar aka bonzo! πΈπΈπππ€©

Hi John,
Thanks for the insight! So to answer the questions, I think market value is around 4k, but they don't come up for sale all that often so it's difficult to gauge. Unfortunately I've had a few 'dream guitars' that have lost their zeal (and I'm planning my wedding at the moment, so it'll be a case of selling/trading a few existing guitars to build up the funds rather than paying up front!) Hopefully a deal can be made - I'll report back soon!
Cheers, Stephen

I recently acquired a 2013 M1 for $2800US. Wasn't even really looking for one, but stumbled upon this one listed on Craigslist here in the states. I contacted the seller right away and they said there was a sale pending and I counted myself out of luck. The following day I receive a message from the seller that the "potential" buyer didn't work out. FULL STOP.....PUT DOWN EVERYTHING......DRIVE 2 HOURS WITH A STOP AT THE BANK. Feeling very fortunate to have scored this. not sure why the posting rotates the image 90 degrees ?

Hi there,
Some years back, I got a "used" NRP M1 wood Tricone, for circa $1600, in minty condition, circa 2-3yrs old.
It just didn't really gel with me - but in general, I just don't bond with Tricones, as much as I do with single cone National/NRP guitars. YMMV. I ended selling mine within about 18months.

Current new price is Β£3,900 in the UK. Β£3200 seems a lot for a used one although shops are asking this. Make him a cash offer of 2500 and see where it goes.

I had one in the house over a year ago when organising the disposal of a large collection, it was 2nd hand and as new and I think it went for a little over two thousand, light resonant and a nice guitar, would not pay the full RRP new price though as largely it is a CNC created although hand assembled guitar. Michaels Fiddle edge offers a better deal if you want to put your finger on bang for your buck although they are different animals.
