Hi peeps, odd question but does anyone know of a blues venue/club in the birmingham area wth a giant picture of Mr Robert Johnson outside, may have the word lounge" in the title....? A friend spotted it but couldn't remember details. Thats Birmingham England. Thanks all,
Dj

Hi DJ...That's the Crossroads Blues Club at 'The Tower of Song' bar...I run it together with Ken Stratford (bass player with ChickenboneBlues). It's on the Pershore Road, just down from Kings Norton Railway Station (between the Beefeater and the BP garage)...just look for the 20 foot high image of Robert Johnson! www.towerofsong.co.ukIt's every Thurday, 8.30pm, free admission, and we pass the hat for the artistes. We start the evening with an open mic..so anyone who wants to play can do a spot, solo or with a pickup band of whoever is in the house, then we have a guest artist. We have a house PA, backline, also house instruments (elec. piano, acoustic & electric guitars, elec. bass, snare, mandolin)...so if you want to play but don't have an instrument with you....no problemo! Check the website for details..this week it's my band, Chickenbone Blues...featuring Mr Dave Smith on harp....an absolutely amazing player, plus a few special guests. We also have "Barrelhouse" jam nights. Now you know where we are..why not come on down and check it out..one or two of the regulars on here are also regulars at The Crossroads too.
