Photo is Epi Zenith around 1936. It came with the Artec pickup shown and although the 9mm deep pickup will fit under the strings, the attached lead increases the space needed to 14mm. The strings foul the pickup and relative string volumes are disturbed. The pickup's sound is otherwise very acceptable Just been reading a thread re Sixtus on the Forum and wondered if anyone has the dimensions and/know these or anything else that might fit? Cheers

Hi chromatic, I think that particular pickup in your post is meant for use on a flying neck. I use them on a couple of old Hofners to good effect. As well as the pickups already mentioned, maybe have a look at the Lace ultra slim, similar dimensions to the sixtus. With the slim pups on that guitar you might actually have to lift them up nearer the strings, I use blu tack if double sided tape isn't enough. Best wishes to you all, John

The Krivo pickups are great for these guitars. their resonator pickups are quite slim especially the ones they make for NRP.

Great info - thanks to all.
There are some other options on arch top.com as well as some very nice instruments inc. an early 2000s National 1.5 tricone.
The NRP/Krivo has good reviews and together with Sixtus wins the slimline contest. Sixtus is about a third of the price. The Lace has good reviews and would fit.
I note that Sixtus won't export to either Germany or the UK for 'bureaucratic reasons'. The UK reason seems obvious but next door to Germany?
At the moment, I think I'll hang on and look for a new/used Sixtus or used Lace. I just missed one of the former and 2 of the latter. Grrr...
Cheers

Cheers I have one of the new Krivo made NRP pickups. that I could sell if you like? It was supplied fitted to a brand new NRP that I got last last week, However, I had the good fortune of getting my hands on a Highlander magnophonic. so I swapped it out and now have the NRP/Krivo going spare.

Thanks for the info Interesting design with no coil windings, I gather. Needs a hole drilling so no go for the Epi Cheers

I wish somebody on this planet would replicate Highlander iP-1X and Magnophonic pickups and professional musicians can all stop looking into the past to amplify their National and National-style guitars with magnetic pickups.
C'est la vie....as they say across the channel.

C'est la vie - said the old folks I have a sixtus single coil in a drawer, I'll try it soon. I just need to buy a jack socket and figure out how to install it, I don't want to attach it permanently, so I could use it with more than one guitar.

C'est la vie - said the old folks.... Well that told me!
Double sided tape is the best way to attach it to the guitar.
