I thought I'd start a new thread instead of tagging onto the Shadow nano thread. I presume (though I may be wrong) that cleverer folks than me have looked at these? Kent Armstrong slimbucker
Artec side mounting humbucker - I presume the extra "tagb" at the right of this is to fit under a scratchplate on a Johnny Smith Jazz Guitar. (Kent Armstrong has a similar model too) Please ignore if this has all been checked out before. (My pickup building buddy is going to furnish me with the tech specs of his Business Card Pickup build)

I have one of these (on a ‘jazz’ guitar)
They are good pickups but at about 9mm thick too large for most resos.( might go on a Fiddle edge, mine is in bits so can’t measure)
A Sixtus ( or at least the old one I have) is between 4-5mm, so half as thick. Pete

Radiostar, I have one of these too. Mine is unbranded, but I think it's the same pickup. Pete is right that it is too thick for a National-style guitar, but I think it would fit on your Dobro-style guitar.
If you want it, I'm happy to send it to you. I don't want any money for it. PM me your address.

OK an update - my fried Wilf of Ghost Pickups built the Business Card pickup for a mutual friend, who has sent me an audio clip via Facebook, ( I will see if I can get him to mail it to me then I can link it here) which I have forwarded to Michael Messer Michael. He used a Behringer Acoustic guitar di/pre-amp. I am going to ask him for photos, video etc. In the meantime, here is what Wilf told me: "Hiya Gary, a correction to my reply regarding requiring a pre-amp, I’d honestly say that’s a definite yes (at this stage) as it’s difficult to pack much into such a small container, Stu who I built the resonator pickup for uses a behringer acoustic preamp pedal and is really happy with it. Adhesion can be magnetic and/or foam tape. IIRC the dcr was 2.56k, the impedance of the coil was 1.48mh. This was the first and only resonator pickup I’ve ever built (it took some tears cursing and swearing never again) but truthfully after figuring it out it wouldn’t be a problem to build another, I could also build a humbucker version (that may be interesting to resonator players)" Wilf is very keen to investigate further & has offered to build a prototype humbucker for me. More on that later.
