Usually ( and in fact what might happen) would be to stick, with double sided tape, a thin pickup to the top, I like the idea of putting the pickup inside the instrument. Fiddle edge design does not make this as straight forward as some other resos. Because brass doesn’t interfere with the signal much a powerful pickup can go under the body and still give a useful output. Fiddle edge strings are an extra few millimetres above the body and I think too far away from an under-body pickup. So what about using the 3 holes in the front? They line up perfectly with the gaps between the pairs of strings. Perhaps I could use a 7 string pickup........see picture below Most cheaper single coil pickups are made on a plastic bobbin, this means that you can push the pole pieces up and down to change the volume of each string ( or pairs of strings. (Don’t do this with a standard Strat or Tele pickup, the wire is wound on the magnets and you ca kill the pickup!) I still have the problem of where to put the jack, but that’s a long way off Pete

Clever idea Pete1951... Did you ever try this? If not, did you try something else?

Unlike some resonator guitars the fiddle edge has a neck stick that buts up against the end block, so there is no room for a standard endpin Jack. The body of mine is very beaten about, so I don’t mind the jack in the side somewhere. Pete
