Hi all, After watching a youtube video I purchased a set of 10-18 gauge bronze. 12 strings of which it said to use the octave strings which I have but my banjitar does not sound right. Ive adjusted the intonation to near perfect but it is not sounding how i thought it would. Any help or info how to get it sounding right would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance Paul

It would be helpful to know the scale length and the tuning you want to use. A picture would also help . Pete
And the gauges of the individual strings you are using at the moment

Try and describe how it sounds and how you'd like it to sound. I have a Tenor Banjo and buy single Nickel strings from Eagle Music. Bronze didn't sound great, a bit muddy. The Nickel have a harder edge and seem to counteract the plunky sound.

Hi Davey, Im finding it hard to tune in the first place but wnen i get it near to tuned E The bass E does not sound like a banjo sound I just want it to sound like a banjo as much as possible. It sounds like a childs toy piano atm.
I got intouch with the seller this morning explaining my difficulties and i have the option of returning it.
But i would like to try and solve this problem. I will try and give pete more ifo tonight as its been a busy day today. Thank you for your post. Cheers Paul

Hi there ! Maybe the “skin” needs tightened ? If the skin is too slack it will sound very dull. A photo would show how much the bridge is pressing into the head. Pete
