at least it does the switching functions you desired.

if the black external shielding sleeve [shrink wrap?] wasn't installed perhaps it would flex enough to coil up in the rear of amp?

another option could be braided sleeve instead as they aren't as rigid as heat shrink gets after heating.

The cable is designed to have an instrument plus 2 switch wires. The instrument cable and a smaller stereo cable are encased in a rubbery plastic but this does make it stiff. Using some sort of cover ( like the one you mention) would have been a better option, I could then use a standard guitar cable and a mic cable.

I might change to this system sooner rather than later as the cable I bought is a little short. I will see if it’s ok at the next gig.
