I now have 2 amps with foot switches, this would normally mean another cable across the stage, and another trip hazard ( I am particularly aware of these at the moment) As I have to make a double foot switch for my Blues Baby I thought I would try this idea out Generally it is not good practice to run signal and switch cables together, but the guitar cable I use will be good quality screened, and the Rev. and ‘fat’ switch will also be screened ( I think they both are switching to earth, so some of the time they will carry no signal anyway). I don’t have to use the new system, so if it turns out noisy ( which I hope it will not ) I can leave the guitar lead unplugged Pete

What year is your guitar? I'm asking because of the unusual headstock

Of course it's a 1959 model! I could see it is a Dallas Tuxedo, but the year eluded me. My mistake for not recognising it from your accurate drawing.

Here is a sketch of the box. By using a plastic bodied socket I can keep the box grounded without creating an earth loop.( though there may be one just before the guitar is plugged in, but I am not worried about it) The guitar cable ( while plugged into the amp) will also have the ‘hot’ wire earthed until I plug into the box.

A proper cable cover would be ideal, but I will want to put it the back of the amp and 6’ of ridged rubber would not fit. So just halving the number of wires is ok for now. Pete Actually the headstock in the drawing is more like this guitar than the Dallas

Well the experiment was a success, but the cable needed to carry a well screened guitar signal and 2 switch wires (also screened) has to be very large.
The video is only 35seconds but it took so long to download I haven’t checked it came out ok!
This makes it stiff and although I have used a fairly short cable, hard to store in the rear of the amp.
I think I will rewire with some mic cable and plug the guitar in the normal way.
The Session amp has the sockets for the foot switches hidden in the underside of the amp, this makes plugging in ( especially at a badly lit gig) awkward. If they were straight into the back I would unplug every gig and keep the foot switch/ inputs box with my other leads
