Hi there !
After I finished my first year at Uni, summer 1990, I ventured down to London for my first time ever. I stayed with Uni friends (who were from London)- and we all went to the Hammersmith Odeon to see John Lee Hooker. A fab surprise was to find out that evening that John Hammond Jr was the solo support act for the night ! Cool ! I also was led around Denmark Street for all the guitar shops. I spent a considerable amount of money (earned from working in an Edinburgh restaurant, as a summer job) on CD's, LP's and even some VHS videos.
One VHS video was a revalation - footage of a 1980 Mississippi Blues Festival, featuring some bluesmen that had been prewar blues recording artists - Hammie Nixon, Eugene Powell, Clyde Maxwell, and it even had Willie Dixon hosting the show (in a pink suit !), and Lefty Dizz at the end of the video. However, the absolute best artist on the VHS tape was the Rev Boyd Rivers - who played on the first two songs.
Check him out - just fab !
And for about 20yrs or more, I didn't find anything more from this artist, then finally some tracks on a compilation CD of Scandanavian researchers looking for acoustic blues in the 1980's. Since then, cool home footage of the Rev Boyd River with his wife accompanying vocals - there are quite a few videos but I'll post one at least.
Amazing stuff !
Perhaps I have posted these videos, I can't remember BUT they are worth posting again, as the Rev Boyd Rivers is so awesome (to use an over-used word !)

Lots of people seem to like Ry Cooder's version of this song, but for me, this is MY favourite version :
Some more great singing :
