Very interested in your guitars, but have no idea how to purchase in U.S. I found 12th fret in Canada, and sent them an inquiry but they have not responded. Any ideas about sources available in U.S. or Canada? Also, just what exactly would I be looking at in additional costs if I purchased one directly from you?

Hello transam1,
Welcome top our forum.
I don't always respond so quick, but I was just checking the forum when your post appeared.
The only dealer anywhere in the world for MM Guitars, apart from me, is 12th Fret in Toronto. They are great people and that is the reason I work with them. I can only apologise if they have not responded to your emails.
You can order direct from me. I send guitar across the pond on a regular basis, so it's no problem at all.
The costs are approximately as follows....
I ship guitars with UPS - Cost is currently £170.00 GBP British Pounds
Import taxes and customs handling fee, around 22 percent of total price including shipping. But you should check that online with your local UPS office.
All guitars purchase from me are setup by my luthier. They are then prepared for each customer and packed for shipping by me.
I hope that is helpful information.
Thank you for your enquiry.

Thanks so much for the fast response. I do have a question about the wood bodies -- what is the difference spec wise between the two? What are the nut widths? I can't find any specs on these?

Hello again transam1,
My pleasure.
The nut width on all MM Guitars is 46mm. The bodies of the two models are virtually identical builds, except the '28 is a 12 fret guitar and the '36 is a 14 fret guitar, so the body is shorter on the '36. However, the scale lengths are the same on both and all MM Guitars - 648mm. The body depths are 80mm at the tailpiece to 70mm at the heel. These vary slightly as MM Guitars, like original National & Dobro instruments, are handbuilt. All these specs are virtually the same as original National and Dobro instruments built in the 1920s and 30s.
I hope that is helpful.

Actually I think I just answered my own question -- I would like to talk more specifically about placing an order. How long does it take from order to shipment and arrival through customs on average? I might be interested in two of these - at least one of them - probably the '28.
