Hi everyone!
Long time ago I have posted something on this forum. Hope everyone is doing well!
I'll start immediately with asking some advice about a National Tricone Style 2 which I have my eyes on. This Tricone is equipped with a NRP Slimline pickup and a Schatten piezo pickup with a external Schatten preamp. It is in very good condition and the owner asks 3000 euros for it incl case.
I am a player who only plays at home, so will I ever use the pickups? I do have a guitar amp (Blackstar HT-5R) and a Headrush MX5 pedal.
What do you guys think? Is it a great bargain?

Is it a National or National Resophonic?

It's a tricone from 2006. What is the big difference between a NRP and a National?

About 70 years or more !!!
Also, completely different company. The originals made by National, the homage to National guitars (with some modern concessions) made by National Resophonic

Absolute stupid question from me! 😬
Ofcourse, I should have known!
Anyway, it's a National Reso-Phonic Tricone style 2 from 2006.

Hi Niek,
I can only think in GBP - that is about £2.5k.
I paid £1550 for a 1998 Style 1 and case about 3 years ago.
I paid another £150 for a Krivo magnetic pickup and installation.
Only you can answer if you'd ever use the pickups, but if you don't play live, probably not. The only pickup recommended for a tricone on this forum is the (no longer produced) Highlander so the Schatten may not sound great anyway.
Yes, yours is a Style 2, but £2.5k/EUR 3K feels a little high to me.
Anyone else?

Hi Niek,
At that price I would be tempted by the Beltona currently sitting in the classified. I'm not affiliated though and I have no idea about your location!
Good luck with whatever you go for.
Best, Kieran

There's a Beltona listed in the Tin Can Alley part of the forum 🙂 No affiliation either.
Best, Lew

The owner of the Tricone Style 2 just sold his guitar unfortunately. I sold my 2004 National to buy a Beltona..... they are so good I ended up buying both Beltona's the seller was moving on. Daughter has recently got me playing Uke, so much so that, I've just put down a deposit for a Beltona tenor Uke to be made. I've no affiliation with seller of the Beltona here in the classifieds section, but I'd check it out if I were in the market
