A little while back I got this MM Lightning secondhand from a guy in Wales named Peter. I'd been trying for a while to find a brass bodied Reso that worked for me, and here it is. Lovely guitar, I'm really enjoying getting to know it, mainly in open D so far. Here's the requisite photo - not so fancy a setting as the Blues photo Mckinleybe1 did recently but inspired by it, socks instead of sharp looking boots... Just a question for Michael, what year does the serial no. MML 183 112 NO date it to? A little recording here : Thanks Michael for all you do getting these guitars out into the world !

Hi Gordon,
You and your new guitar sound great together.
Hmm, that serial number has baffled me. Did you buy it from the original owner? could I see some more photos please, and a photo of the serial number. Maybe start a thread, or send me the pics in a pm. I’m sure there’s nothing strange about it, I’m wondering if that was a personalised number.

Nice playing Gordon. I love that song and have been playing it a lot recently, although my version is quite different to yours.
I am getting some GAS for a lightning recently, I will probably give in some day.

Are they the standard tunners? I saw one for sale and I thought that the tunners had been added after market.
Do the current lightnings come with golden age open gear tunners or something similar?

I just thought I would post on here about Gordon's guitar. We did speak via private message, but as the thread is here....
The serial number is actually ... MML 183 11 2ND, it is a B-stock or 2nd guitar from 2011. I suspect the reason for it being a 2nd or B is in some way to do with the neck or headstock. However, after eleven years it is still in one piece and sounds great, so nothing to worry about.
Purpleorange, as that time my distributor was Busker Guitars and we are trying various types of tuners to find the best ones. These were Kluson copies that are good tuners, but I never liked them as they don't look right on these instruments. For quite a few years I have used a very similar set of tuners to Golden Age open gear tuners, which are good quality and look right on 1930s style instruments.

Thanks Ryan, good to hear from you.
Like Michael said, my guitar's from over ten years ago now. These tuners are fine, kind of funky looking but anyway, the more recent ones have respectable open-gear tuners.

Hi Gordon
If you would like a set of “respectable” open gear tuners for your new guitar, let me know and I’ll send you a set as a gift.

That's very kind of you Michael, will be in touch.
In case my comment didn't sound right, the tuners I have look funky in a good way, just not as period-correct as the open gear ones.
And thanks Al!
