Has anybody owned or played a Beltona Southener fibreglass resonator? There are a couple for sale and I am wondering what the sound is like, compared to the various metal and wood bodied 14 fret resonators. Cheers.

Not much help I'm afraid, but I owned one a few years back - it was super light and looked great.
But it was a long time ago, and I had even less idea about what a resonator should sound like than I do now (I'm still a real newbie!) :-( So I can't help with sound comparisons, sorry.
For what it's worth, Steve Evans was an absolute pleasure to deal with...
Love to hear what others think about them.

The electro and acoustic, single cones are great I have not tried the squareneck tricone so cannot comment on this one, the ukes and mandolins are also great. what you also have to consider is the fit and finish of the other components , neck cones & coverplate are 1st class. Hope this helps. Lee

A friend of mine has owned a 14 fret Southerner for around 20 years and it’s a nice guitar. Over the years the fibreglass has shrunk in places, but the guitar is still in good shape and sounds good. It sounds similar to a steel bodied instrument, but with less overtones and harmonics.

Thanks for the replies, the steel bodied sound makes sense as the resin fibreglass is also a really hard material. Lee, as you say the build quality would be first class. Thanks again, just browsing and the information really helps. Cheers.
