Thought I'd try an experiment and see how the Lightning fared in Django country. I haven't played this style in an age, but i do love the old gypsy swing - hence the experiment. Must confess I think it works!

Derek, nice playing and it sounds great on that guitar.
Gypsy swing music has a few resophonic players. The great Oscar Aleman played a National Triplate until sometime during the 2nd World War when it was apparently taken by the authorities to melt down for the war effort. More recently, The Sons of the Desert with their wonderful and very rare National Aragons (most of the videos are of other material, but they do play gypsy swing music), and the excellent Opus 4 with their Fine Resophonic guitars and various other resophonic instruments. There are others, but those are the ones that spring to mind at this moment.

I love swing played with a resophonic guitar, expecially with a wooden one for a more round sound yet still with that bite we love so much. Oscar Aleman.....! What an artist! I dig him so much... I sometimes play in a swing trio setting (reso guitar-double bass-trumpet) and after trying different kind of guitars I found a reso to be the most dinamic of all. Frank
