Richard, here are the holes from, I assume, a previous pickup. I don't know if the gold foil is thin enough, I will measure the clearance. Thank you for the great response! Malcolm

Check the 1st and 6th string clearance by estimating the absolute minimum clearance you need, by : Press those strings down on the last fret of the fretboard extension and measuring the height from the guitar body to the underside of the string (when pressed down onto the fret) - and measure below the string WHERE you want the pickup to go. That gives you the lowest possible position the string can be. Ideally you still need some clearance below that - but maybe not more than a mm. I remember looking at those pickups you are considering - and looking at the spec (height, especially), and seem to remember them being likely too high to use on most Nationals. You might be lucky, especially IF you have your guitar set up with relatively high action. reverb.com/item/3585186-victory-diamondback-lowrider-gold-foil-pickupThe top of the pickup cover design goes higher around the edges than I think necessary/ideal, if you are looking for something slim. The spec shows the pickup height is 0.34", which is about 8.64mm You probably need at least another 1mm for clearance. You need to do some measuring !!! Hopefully there is enough room for the pickup. Get them to make it with the cable coming out of the treble side of the pickup, not underneath (ie. it would be cool if you don't need to make any more holes in the guitar BECAUSE if you don't like the pickup and want to remove it, you won't be left with an unsightly hole.

Hi again !
The pickup says the mounting holes are 3.0025" apart - which is circa 76.25mm apart.
How far apart are those tiny screw-holes ?

The holes are approx 2.75 inches which is the exact length of the pu itself. The pickup guy was going to drop the machine screws out of the bottom of the pu without using the normal tab holes. He has a spec on one of his other pu's that is 3.125 or 5/16 inches which may get the job done. I need to find my metal 64th rule which is missing. It will be very close but I figure the dam holes are already there so what the hell.
Good on you Richard

There is a Kay "pancake" pickup that lives up to its name and about as low profile as they get. The mount holes are 3 5/16" c to c. and it is 3/8" tall. They are a great sounding pickup.
