Good morning all,
I recently broke the bank to buy a longtime dream guitar (1951 Gibson ES-5) and just don't have room for two archtops, so this great instrument has to find a new home.
I bought the Aristocrat from Michael Messer in 2019 - it is a 1948 model with neck and laminated body made by Gibson (the "stylist" neck came up a year later if I am not mistaken).
Apart from the neck pickup there is also a magnetic pickup in the bridge - the signal is somewhat weak, but you are able to get interesting sounds by means of the blend pot.
It is the actual guitar pictured in Mark Makin's great book on page 154.
Comes in a high quality Hiscox Lifelite Artist case.
The guitar had some work done before I got it and is in great playing condition with low action. There are lacquer chips especially on the neck.
I am asking for EUR 1.800,- plus shipping. I am based in Vienna.
Feel free to ask any questions.
Regards, Michael

Mmmmmmm !!!
Very nice !! I've been naughty recently & bought a few things so I'll just have to be good and say no. Anyway, I'm holding out for finding a National Princess (circa 1946).
Lovely guitar that is ! And super cool with it having a "normal" dovetail set neck. I have an early 50's National archtop acoustic with a "Stylistic" adjustable neck and didn't like it at all. Luckily I got the guitar for $200 and it came with a minty Dearmond Rhythm Chief Model 1000 pickup on it (included in the price !!!!).

There's probably plenty room to fit a Dearmond Rhythm Chief or FHC pickup on that guitar. Mmmmmmmm !!!

There's probably plenty room to fit a Dearmond Rhythm Chief or FHC pickup on that guitar. Mmmmmmmm !!! Not without doing something to the scratch plate. While it is no longer my guitar and therefore none of my business, I do think it is important to retain the originality of this beautiful guitar. While I owned it I had some work done on the neck to body join. It was all done by remowned master luthier, Bill Puplett, and it was beautifully done. Here it is in 2014 sounding great.... Hi again !!
Having earlier stated I was interested, but really looking instead for a National Princess, I only just recently found a National Princess ! Needs work done to it though. Only one of maybe 3 known to exist of this model. Might have given up looking and hone for your guitar. Just too late for me !
I expect YOUR guitar is of far better quality though.

Too bad Richard, I had pinned my hopes on you ;-) I just noticed that the pictures disappeared from my initial post so I uploaded them again.
