I have had a blues 12 for a while now and I am most pleased with it. I am now contemplating another Messer. Being a Canuck I can get a Messer Blues 28 here but I am considering the 36. My understanding is that the 28 would have a little more in the bass while the 36 would have more in the mids. I like having the low end but the access above the 12th fret would be nice. And yes playing with a slide.

I've played both a 28 and a 36 and I am still surprised at how generous the sound of the 36 is, I don't think it gives up much in terms of bass response. That said, there's something that just feels more natural when playing slide on a 12 fret guitar, the shape feels more comfortable to me as well. It's all pretty subjective though, I'm sure you'd enjoy them both.

I am going to go with the 28. I have the blues 12 and a Johnson ,brass body 14 fret. I find the Blues 12 to be not only the better instrument but also more satisfying for " me " to play. I prefer the feel of the 12 fret. So I am in the process of arranging a purchase. Thank you gentlemen.

The Blues 28 arrived today. The workmanship, from finish to fretwork is impressive. It just arrived this morning. I've only had it out of the case to insure no travel scars. Waiting on it to acclimatize and then have a go at it.
