I have seen a number of posts about this subject but not an answer to my specific question.
I recently purchased a MM Blues 12 round neck. I love it. Can't put it down!
May I leave this resonator in open E tuning long-term? I think it was strung with 13-56 strings and I haven't changed them.
For the foreseeable future I want to work in just one tuning to familiarize myself with the instrument. I'd like it to be E but can drop to D if long-term open E tuning is hard on the neck or cone.
Thanks for your insights.

Thanks for your insights. Hello bpmajors Welcome to our forum and thank you for becoming an MM Blues owner. Your guitar should be absolutely fine in open E tuning with those strings. Don't worry, a properly constructed steel bodied National style guitar is a very strong instrument that will take some serious punishment. Having said that, I always find that 13/56 feel a bit choked in EBEG#BE, so to get a better tone and to be sure not to put any strain on the guitar, my advice is to go with 12/54 strings. So to sum up... 13/56 is fine, but 12/54 will IMHO be better all round in E tuning. I hope that is helpful and not confusing. Shine On Michael
