Hi folks.
I would like to fit strap locks to my Blues 12. I had installed them on my Icarus previously and had the fiddly job of refitting the wood block inside that it fixed the tailpiece with. Am I to encounter the same with my Blues 12?

Am I to encounter the same with my Blues 12? Hi Denbo, That depends on when your guitar was made. For the past couple of years those end blocks are fitted correctly. Forgive me for saying, but I don't understand why anyone, unless you are a guitar acrobat on a trapeze at the circus, would need to fit strap locks to any guitar, especially a National-style resonator guitar. I have been playing guitars of all types since I was about seven years old (approx 58 years!) and in all that time of doing gigs and leaping around like a maniac with every conceivable type of strap, every conceivable type of guitar and full of almost every conceivable type of stimulant, I have NEVER dropped one! Prior to Schaller's invention in 1981 there were no such things as locking strap buttons. My apologies for going off on one, but there are some attempts at reinventing the wheel that seem completely pointless to me. Meanwhile, I wish you well and that you have a happy and healthy 2022. Shine On Michael

Thanks Michael. No I’ve never dropped a guitar neither as it happens, however due to a back problem, sitting & standing frequently while in a playing session helps, and in my case it’s peace of mind that won’t happen. I bought it from you last year so I assume there’ll be no problem. Thank you for your kind answer. I must say, it’s a wonderful guitar, & I’m really happy with it thank you.

Hi Denbo, I use straps to stop especially shiny resos from slipping off my lap! I can really recommend the ones I have posted. There are a few variations but they all work well. Comfortable webbed strap with built in locking. Win win. Hope this helps. Best wishes to you all, John

Hi there !
Straps do come off occasionally.
When I got my first good resonator, a NRP Delphi, back in 1996, I put a strap button on the heel and ixed the strap onto it. What I now realise never to do was lift the guitar BY the strap, lifting the strap over my head. While the guitar was at it's highest point in doing that (ie. higher than it would be once actually on my shoulder), my brand new Delphi unleashed itself from the strap .... and fell to the ground. It hit the ground and bounced back upwards - and I caught it rather nicely on the way back up.
And no damage to the guitar what-so-ever !!!!!! Impressed !!

y answer to strap locks without breaking the bank a reamed out washer about 5 pence each, If you ever have a reso fall on ya tootsies you will be prone to using words not in the Bible! I always leave the straps on the guitars by the way.

I was playing bass in a band in my 20’s and the strap came loose halfway through a song. One of the few benefits of adhd is quick thinking and I dropped to my knees and didn’t miss a beat. The audience thought I was doing a rock star move. I wasn’t but I didn’t tell the young lady who was apparently impressed enough to sidle up to me after the set (waggles eyebrows in a Terry Thomas style).
