Hi there ! I had a nice fat 50’s style Telecaster type neck going spare that I bought about 8yrs back on ebay, used, for £50. Been dying to do some sort of project with it. Then I saw an ebay seller (upcycledguitars) selling guitar bodies based on the Telecaster design, but some in weird & wonderful body shapes. He makes them from recycled chunks of pine wood. Saw one he was selling without any cutaways and I just loved the shape. Didn’t want to go for standard Telecaster pickups etc - and the guy was up for making customised ones - still for £50. I only ever really use the neck pickup on 2 or 3 pickup guitars, or I might use the neck&bridge pickup together BUT I never play bridge pickups. Just don’t like the treble sound, lacking in bass. Really, a “middle” pickup is the most ideal sound for me. However, I can’t decide if I want a humbucker or a P90 pickup - and I don’t want both on a guitar, as one will end up too close to the bridge perhaps. I also never really use the Tone controls in guitars, preferring fully on all the time - so why bother with them ??? !!! Lastly, I love my 1954 Silvertone 1361, a one pickup electric guitar, including the cream colour and black scratchplate - so I used this as a basis for my DIY SnakehipsOCaster, with interchangeable, all inclusive pickup, volume pot and jack socket, each version pictured with my Silvertone (NB. I want vintage-looking cream colour volume knobs - so the ones currently on each scratchplate will be changed for something nicer) :

Hi again,
I found those very ones online, soon after I posted this thread - and ordered them late afternoon.
Many thanks for your help anyway !

I love the looks of the silvertone , snakey ………….it reminds me of the start of the guitar sale boom in middlesbrough …..( 50 / 60 years ago in my case ) when oddly shaped instruments started arriving in the shops, quite nostalgic for me
