I want to lift up the action on my resonator and wondered if anyone on this forum has a biscuit for a resonator that they would like to sell me? Ideally a National, Michael Messer or Beard or something well made as I will stick with what I have rather than put on something sub standard Please send me a message if you have one with details and price. I live in the UK Thank you

You could stick a piece of solid wood veneer on the underside, to lift it the required amount. It's not a perfect fix but it will suffice until you replace the biscuit. Use superglue and trim it with scissors after it sets, it works pretty well and if the biscuit is too short anyway it's basically a scrap biscuit

I have a stock of hardwood biscuits that were used on earlier MMs and Busker guitars, though usually you would replace the saddle to change string height. My biscuits will be the same thickness as most others, so is it the saddle you really want? Pete There would be no charge except postage

Hi Pete 1951 Thanks for your message. Yes it is the saddle i want to adjust, however the biscuit i currently have on the guitar is a Beard biscuit and the saddle and biscuit are glued and painted and in one piece. I doubt i could separate both parts without damaging the biscuit.

Fine , send me your address through the Message section of the forum and I will send you both. It will be good to practice on. An upgrade you might like to do later would be to fit a maple biscuit with a box-wood saddle, but try this first. Pete

I could send you a spare NRP biscuit. Just send postage - no idea how much. £3 for a jiffy (bubble-wrap padded) bag and postage itself ? PM me if you want

The NRP will probably be all maple, and would be better than the ones I have. Pete

I fitted a boxwood bridge into my old Trojan, certainly perked up the treble and attack. I think National originally used boxwood befor going over to maple, it's a very dense and hard wood.

English box is the correct wood for resonator guitar bridge saddles. It was used by the original National and Dobro companies.
There are some very kind offers from forum members offering to send Robin a biscuit/bridge, which are proof of how this forum is a real community of supportive helpful and like-minded folk. Fantastic to see.
I am not trying to compete with Pete or Snakehips, but I do have some maple biscuit/box bridges. I don't want any money, just a name and address.
Now you're spoilt for choice!
Shine On Michael.

Shine On Michael. I feel like I unknowingly must have cashed in a cheque of good karma, a couple of days ago I searched online and couldn't find any stores in the UK selling a biscuit. I guess stockists have sold out and orders are slow coming in due to covid. Resonator parts are always hard to find in the UK anyway. I didn't want to order from the states unless it was essential as postage is high and I am currently out of work from the effects of the pandemic, my job running a community music rehearsal space/charity. I am starting back at work again next week in a (part time) small way recording teenage musicians individually, it will be some time before our music project can fully reopen and serve the community. My last hope in finding a biscuit was here on this forum and kindness on this forum seems to be plentiful with some great offers coming from some good people. I communicated with Snakehips yesterday and he is so kindly going to send me a NRP biscuit as he doesn't need it and has turned down the offer of money for the biscuit and just wants postage. This should be all I need to get my resonator singing again. Michael, this is a fantastic community that you have built up over the years of people with a shared love of music & resonator guitars. Thank you and my best wishes to all who have offered to help me out As it has been said before - Shine On

For future reference, the saddle isn't usually glued in strongly. A tiny flat screwdriver would usually prise it out, but YMMV. TT
