This is the place to buy and sell National, Dobro, MM, and any other brands of resophonic guitars, acoustic guitars, electric guitars, lap steels, amps, records, CDs and anything else that may be of interest to our members and visitors. No commercial advertising - it will be immediately deleted. NOTE: This is a free advertising space and it reaches a large worldwide community. While I am 100% happy with members using this to sell stuff, it would be a gesture of goodwill when a sale is made to make a donation towards the running of the forum, especially as some people join the forum just for the purpose of accessing our community to sell their guitar. PM me for the Paypal details. Thanks, Michael.
Newbie here, greetings from County Cork Ireland! I'm trying to source a 9.5" (or 9") spider bridge cone for a Miniolian conversion project. New or used, fair condition. Resophonic Outfitters in the USA have one, but the shipping would be more than the price of the cone! Hopefully someone out there might have one, or know of a UK or European supplier? Thanks in advance, stay safe.

Welcome to our forum.
You will not find a 9.5" inverted spider-type cone and spider.
I know from your email to me that you are considering flipping it around. I really don't see that as a possibility because it just won't fit. You would have to reshape all the rims around the edge. It is not impossible, but I don't think it will sound any good. My advice is to leave your guitar as it is supposed to be and get a spider bridge Dobro-style guitar.
Michael has seen most things that can be done, should be done and should not be done to resos over the years. However I have had fun over the years doing odd things with reso guitars . As yet I have never made anything that sounds better than a National (or an MM ) but as long as I don’t damage rare or vintage instruments it keeps me amused. Pete I’m not sure what you are trying to do, can you send a drawing, I for one, would like to see your ideas.
Thanks for the replies, comments taken on board for consideration!
I'm reminded of a time in the early 70s, when I owned an 850cc Mini. I really wanted a 1275 Mini Cooper S, but there was no way that I could afford it. I bought a second hand Austin 1100 engine (same block, virtually a straight swap) and dropped that in. Man, did that thing shift! I can't afford two resos right now.....but I can have a lot of fun experimenting with a conversion project. If it doesn't work, no harm done, no none-reversible alterations involved!
