Hi there !
That washer is an important feature that I have found to be a right royal pain in the neck with these Stewmac tuners, despite them beimg excellent overall. If you have nice crisp, expertly drilled tuner post holes for the rollers, the Stewmac tuners don’t seat all the way into the headstock - the tuner plates don’t sit flush on the sides of the headstock - there is a bit of a gap. I have certainly found that on the sets I have fitted to guitars (about 5 or 6 sets, I think) To me, that washer is a strong indicator of a set of Stewmac tuners - or should I say the other way, do vintage tuners have this washer???
