I’m newish to him too, beyond the well known slide stuff used on certain soundtracks, and so far Paradise and Lunch is my favourite. Boomer’s Story is very nice too. A while back I bought this CD boxset for an excellent price on the bay...Lots of listening still to be had! 1970-1987 (Album Box Set) www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00F8OV4HQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_.jGyEbPEAMXT8

ts all good in my book but also check out the work RY does with " Little village " and also he guests on cds by his long time backing singer Mr Terry Evans who has a 5 octave range and Terry worked with a Dutch guy Hans Theesink in his later years check out " Delta time" the track Shelter from the storm has the most lovely 3 part harmony and it one of my faves...

Fred, party of one is effectively the members of little village that were still speaking to each other, I saw little Village on there brief tour, hearing Ry Solo on the John Hiatt track lipstick sunset is one of my great moments.

This is a superb film that not only features Ry Cooder, but also personal favourites, Flaco Jimenez, Van Dyke Parks, Jim Keltner, Bobby King and Terry Evans. I can't believe it was made 33 years ago! The film was made by the late and wonderful Les Blank, who as well as this and numerous other great music films, made "The Sun's Gonna Shine - The Blues according to Lightning Hopkins", which is one of the great blues documentary films. Not an album, but a full show (Moula Banda Rhythm Aces): And if videos of Ry Cooder are being discussed, then we have to include the 1977 concert at the BBC TV Theatre "Shepherds Bush Empire" Shine On Michael

The Moula Banda movie has been on youtube for years - YT's copyright policy is really hard to understand... It is still on Youtube. You can't watch it from a third party site. That restriction will have been put in place by the artist's management, and rightfully so. While it is there, like everyone else I will watch it. However, it should not be there, it should only be available if we pay to watch it. Shine On Michael

Dear Michael, I know it is still on YT and I agree that it should not be there. BTW I saw it in a movie theater when it first came out ;-)).
