Hi Guy's! The current topic from Bill on the forum here about slide-sizing, and Michael's excellent input about 'Pyrex' slides also mentioned in the replies to Bill has reminded me to add a quick note about small companies currently advertising in the U.K. & U.S. via a certain internet auction site (yes - you know the one ), offering 'Hand-Blown glass guitar slides' for sale - we've received a few e-mails here at 'Diamond's Rest Home for the Elderly ' asking why these slides are a third of the price of our own hand-blown glass slides, and if they're worth purchasing. The key word on all of the products offered by these web-shops is 'boro-silicate', or boron-silicate'.....this is the trade name for Pyrex! Pretty much all of these shops neglect to mention the 'P' word in the blurb due to the obvious commonly-known inadequacies of Pyrex on instruments - most certainly on acoustic & resonator guitars, so please be aware when buying what seems to be a 'hand-blown glass slide'.....if it's boro-silicate, it's Pyrex Slide On! Ian.

Just to add, the Lead Crystal slide I had from off you is great Ian. I have a "P" one and it doesn't even compare. Jules
Ps I have a couple of bottles you can have when I next see you.

Mmmm - i don't mind full bottles at all.....although the Mild in the 'Turks Head' does take some beating . Sure thing Jules - bring 'em along to the next meet (23rd March) and i'll come down. Sorry i haven't be able to pop down on the last two meetings - work involving glass tubing has all but taken over life just lately...things'll hopefully calm down before Easter Slide On! Ian.

Hi Ian. juat adding, i spent a couple years trying all sorts of slide materials, even ceramic(which i do like!) but like your add says on your website, nothing compares. the standard glass you made is always in my pocket just in case i wonder in a shop or a friend lets me play a guitar. and obviously its with me when ever I'm playing. The crystal slide one is also spot on, just wish i didnt have my name on it due to it turning onto the strings....oops. D.j

Thanks Ian, no new message yet but i'll keep an eye out for it. Its amazing that a good slide, good strings and a good cone/set up can make a budget resonator sound really quite sweet! Have a listen...http://www.myspace.com/djsbluesbar Thanks D.j
