I recognize a majority of a resonator's tone is from the cone, followed by body material, but I'm interested in people's thoughts on the impact of finish. I'm thinking here of, as example, National's weathered steel finish compared to one such as the chipped ivory or barn yard (which look to be thicker), compared to a traditional finish such as the painted Triolian brown burst. I know this is a "no one right answer" question, just looking for fellow players thoughts and experiences.
