Hello
I have about £400 to spend on a resonator. Do you have any suggestions on the best guitar for that money. I will be using the guitar for slide
Best wishes

I tried out a (Chinese Gibson) Dobro on Saturday, a Hound-dog I think, which was £300 new. It seemed to be solid wood, rather than ply, sounded rather good. The action was a little low for slide playing and the strings were a bit too close together. I got the impression that it was a "compromise guitar" in that it was set up and played like a standard acoustic. This may be a good thing for some folk. One bonus is that it says Dobro on the headstock, rather than other more obscure makes. For the money it would be hard to beat, and would be worth a try. If you could push the boat out a bit, and add a few more quid, Goldtones seem to be at the high end of budget resonators and better (from my point of view) than the Chinese Gibson Dobro
