When are the Michael Messer Band & National Debt going to play at the Half Moon in Putney? or even The blues Bar in Putney? Both are really great intimate "juke joint" type venues. Plus they're local to me!

Hi Chris,
I have played at the Half Moon, but not for many years. There was a time when the Half Moon was one of THE London roots music venues. I saw many great artists there. The Blues Bar in Putney; I don't know that one?

Hello Michael, Ah, the Half Moon in Putney. I spent most of the 80s practically living there and saw many great blues bands in the back room, including Blues 'n Trouble, Stan Webb's Chicken Shack and the Balham Alligators (with the great Geraint Watkins on accordian). They also used to do jazz on Sunday lunchtimes with John Green's Snap Syncopators who had a guy who played bass saxophone à la Adrian Rollini All that and Young's Special ;D It's about the only thing I miss out here in sunny Seville All the best, Joe (aka Mairena Red)

Hi Michael, The Blues Bar in Putney is actually "Brook's Blues Bar" and takes place above the Telegraph Pub in Wildcroft Rd, Putney Heath. It's run by a bloke called Tony and his wife Christine. Lovely people, complete blues nuts etc. It's probably the most intimate of venues I've ever had the pleasure of going to. Your act would go down a storm. They are closed now until January 2008. You can contact them on www.brooksbluesbar.co.uk Look forward to seeing you there in 2008. Regards, Chris

Any likelihood of doing the Tower Of song or the Roadhouse in Birmingham at some point? Small, friendly places. Chickenbone John will tell you about the Tower of Song & whether it's viable, the Roadhouse is a decent sized room, regular clientele, so that should be worthwhile. In theory.

Or the Adam & Eve on a Saturday? Good (and bigger) regular crowd, good atmosphere. And only one bus for me, so I can "enjoy a pint".

Thanks for the names of the venues. There will definitely be a Birmingham date next year. I haven't played there for a long time.

Hi Michael, Saw you at the Ashcroft in Fareham last night and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. You have awakened my interest in slide guitar. Also had a good chat with Ed at half time (fag break ). Rock on.
