Interesting programme on the box last night. I love a lot of Primal Scream stuff, so I'll be getting this.
Back in early 90s, following Screamadelica, they were struggling for inspiration, so they jetted off to Memphis to record with Tom Dowd.
They used the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section and the Memphis Horns, but when they took the mixes to the UK producer, he wasn't impressed - too slick.
So they got some modern funkateers to spice it up and the 'give out...' record was released.
Fast forward a couple of decades, and the guitar player unearths the Memphis mixes on a cassette, and the label decides to get the original mixes released.
