In the ‘Item specifics’ box the seller identifies the brand as Regal (but I have no idea if that is what it is)

I saw this in a guitar shop in Worcester last month. It sounds great. The shop didn't think it was a NRP, and after consulting a FB group, it transpires that the sticker is a freebie that NRP give away. The other give away is that it is priced about right for whatever make it is, so no real 'unscrupulous' dealings IMO. TT

The guitar was listed on eBay a few weeks ago, as well. Then the seller said it wasn't a NRP, just had the sticker on it.

It appears that the seller is intentionally trying to be misleading If they said previously said the guitar wasn't an NRP and now there alluding that it could be an NRP.

It is a generic Shanghai-built guitar which was probably as Pete has said, branded as a Busker. This was a UK based distributor that no longer imports guitars. I am sure it it is a nice guitar, but I find the idea of trying to pass it off as an NRP guitar, offensive. It is so obviously not a National Reso-Phonic.

Most Buskers had an epoxy glued badge, which would have left a scar if removed, so might not be . There is usually a serial number on the head as well. Putting a badge with the wrong maker on is not good. I have put badges that are similar to brands (I love the look of the old National badge) but draw the line at fraud!

The advert has now been edited, there was no mention of the fact that the guitar could be a republic guitar in the original version.
The line about the guitar been sold to a friend as a mid 80s national resophonic is also new.

I saw this advert a few days ago before this thread started, and having just checked its description I see what is written now has changed from when I first saw it. Unless my memory really is shot I think it said the sellers weren’t sure about it being a genuine NRP but I don’t believe it said anything about being sold to the friend as an 80’s National or the bit about it possibly being a Republic. I wonder if the description has been amended, perhaps because this thread was brought to their attention? I’m not convinced anyone is trying to be dodgy or pull a fast one...it was always alluded to in the ad that it might not be a National / NRP and that the seller wasn’t too clued up on the subject. If it is a Republic or a Busker then the price is ok...I just hope someone doesn’t buy it under the wrong impression!!!
Best

It's definitely been changed today. Someone may have PMd him with the info. As for the high action, it has a high nut (not a squareneck sized nut either, in between). It's like they stuck any nut on without adjusting it. The guy said "it's plays well with a capo". TT
