did he do anything with a lot of slide stuff on a reso?

There are quite a lot of recordings of Johnny playing slide on National guitars, but for me these are the absolute standout masterpieces. Four of the finest acoustic blues recordings ever.

There is an album (cd) called Texas Tornado on Charly that has early pre-columbia recordings. There are some very good solo tracks including Going Down Slow, Kind Hearted Woman, Low Down Gal of Mine... also some band tracks that are interesting.

Johnny is able to flesh out a solid tune with a lot of repetive, basic riffs, but the whole package works quite well...
