Some time last year I rescued a guitar from a local skip.
It needed replacement tuners, a tailpiece and a bridge which I've done.
I added a couple of transfers and a set of Martin Monels and I now have a stunning, very lightweight super fingerpickin' slide guitar which sounds incredible - loud and sensitive tuned to C# Vestapol (to my ears anyway).
The few people who have seen it and played it are convinced it is very old, possibly European and could be a bit more special than what I think it is.
So I'm looking for help in trying to identify her, please.
Fine straight grained spruce top with three black line purfling, inlaid wood ropey style rosette.
Parallel ladder braced with plain, non notched internal kerfing.
Dark wood, I know not wot, sides and back.
The back is slightly arched and has a whitish edge.
Slotted headstock with three on a plate tuners with post spacing at 32mm; the original posts were rivetted not screws, see photo.
The neck is a bit bitter and twisted and has been repainted black and has a D section. Plays OK even though the 6th fret has gone AWOL.
Fretboard is ebonized lightly coloured wood, again I know not wot wood, fitted with old style small brass frets.
The tail block is off centre as can be seen in the photo.
The whole thing has a hand made feel to it...
