I've bunged an Artec MSP-50 in my Recording King ROS-16 that I use for open mic & jam nights. No preamp - straight to the jack. Using Martin PB strings.
I was expecting quite a thin sound out of it and having to apply plenty EQ, but I didn't have to do anything. You won't be wasting money if you buy it.

Michael, what breed of dog do you use? If I got the same dog but changed the collar for studded leather would it mprove the sound?
sorry, having a bad morning - can't find the dried frog pills.

Just saw that you're playing with Pete so I've been listening to a bootleg of Pete Matheson & Innes Sibun at The Druidstone Hotel.

"2 minutes to 12 o'clock" ?
So if the sound guy sets the lows to 1 minute to 12 , can I throw all my M&Ms (with the blue ones taken out) at him?

Michael - I've not heard you mention the playing quietly with fingerpicks thing before ( or more likely I wasn't listenening ). I keep trying fingerpicks but have never felt as comfortable with them as without .....but I've just spent a happy hour playing quietly and I think I can see that it's going to help. I've found that I can hit the string I want more accurately and feel I've got more control.
Thanks for that , it's really helped me.
So I can cancel my booking for blues week and pocklington now*.

Michael, thanks for that, I'll be careful how I refer to 'resonators with two too many cones' in future.
Thanks, Bob

We've got a question about a buzzing 'tricone' & Michael refers to 'triplates' in his reply, and you know I've never been afraid to ask a stupid question, so what's the difference?
Is it just a different term fo rthe same thing?
Thanks, Confused of Heckmondwike.

I used to buy Guitarist ( up to about a year ago ) and subscribed to Guitar & Bass magazine ( up to this month ), but I decided a whie ago that they were now just extended adverts and stuff for magpies. I don't think I've seen anything score below 85% or less than 4 stars , or get a bad review.
I think that I get more information, entertainment and introduced to more music on this board of yours that I have from any magazine.
So my beer tokens will now going on Blues Matters.
Thanks, Bob

Jaco,
When I bought my Lightning about 2 years ago , it came with a hard case rather than the pod style. I was please 'cos I've got a pod style that came with my Yamaha LJ6 & it's a good light case , but a bit bulky.
Just saying you should ask Robin afore you get attached to a pod style case.
(BTW veneer wood is any kind of wood that is peeled ( sliced ) into very thin sheets 2-3 mm thick , that is glued to the outside of furniture to make MDF/Plywood/Cheap boards look like mahogany/burr wallnut etc. )
