Really good stuff Snakey. π Especially enjoyed the last track with a full Elmore house band! Add some cigarette smoke, half empty bottles and clinking glasses you're in a club in 50's Chicago. I'd pay to get in! Top stuff π

His Andreas. I think you have listened to the best advice from top people in the resonator world and have come to a sensible decision π If funds allow to have the work done now, you will soon have an excellent guitar! π Best wishes to you all, John

Looking good TT. When it's all finished and set up I think you'll find you have a nice guitar πΈ π On my 12 string Icarus I have decided to leave well enough alone. I've got 3 point 5 mm at the 12th fret which is fine for slide. I've decided on MM 12 54 strings, so hopefully things will stay the same π€π€. More pics please. Best wishes to you all, John

Hi tricone, this is a particularly fancy guitar so a premium is attached. My earlier reply was not meant to be flippant but there doesn't seem to be a reference point for these instruments. I've just bought a early tricone marked axl which is pretty much a Continental in everything but name. It has been discussed at length on the forum and it's known I paid Β£500 for it. If you are interested I think all you can do is make an offer and prepare for some negotiation! Good luck, and remember as already mentioned there are other guitar offers out there. (But I know wot it's like to get gas for a particular guitar)! Edit. You can find the discussion on this part of the forum under the heading 'axl tricone but built in Germany' which is quite interesting reading. ππΈ

Understood Michael, thanks again for the advice. I've left Neil a message about changes, like you sed, better safe than sorry!

Thanks for the advice Michael. Guess I should have asked before ordering! I'll get Neil to send along some 13's, it's just that I thought 15's were the way to go with Duolian type guitars πΈ. This particular guitar was either a custom order or after sale headstock job. It's 3-5mm at the 12th, decent relief and break angle so I'm hoping a surface clean and string change will do the job.

Some more Icarus if anyone is interested. I've had an Icarus tricone for a few years now, been a nice guitar with no problems at all. I met the guy who sets them up at the time and he worked on a Lightning I had picked up that had been knocked about a bit. Did a good job, I've still got it. This was before I had discovered this forum, that's when my desire for shiny things really took off! So I thought you might like this, shiny and Icarus. I know twelve string reso's aren't everyone's cup of tea but I like them. This one was a bit beat up and I bought it with more hope than expectation. However I was pleasantly surprised and with a little work it came up very well and sounds good and LOUD! Haven't changed strings yet, these look to be addario 10 - 54's as best I can tell. Seemed it had been in open d tuning, I would never go above c. Some advice please, I've ordered some Newtone MM PB's 15- 54's, I think because they tune at a lower tension they should be alright. I know some of you know a lot about comparing tension loads between different brands so any input would be appreciated. I'm going to try and insert a couple of pictures, I'm always interested in where they turn up! Best wishes to you all, John was

Hi eddy. Nice guitar, if you're after a lefty this has got to be on the list. I think the bubbling and flaking are a known problem and was discussed on the forum a while back. I think NRP were trying out a new type of finish at the time and it didn't work out. Might have been a free refinish offered to qualifying guitars. So there is information out there on a way you could find to rectify the problem. Good luck with your purchase, the defect does give you a bargaining chip in your negotiation, at least enough to cover costs of repairs. Best wishes to you all, John
