I don't remember what the thread was about, but Duece pointed out the importance of knowing pentatonic scales in open tunings playing slide. I've dabbled with playing slide for years and that one tip has been a real ear opener and made for some fun noodling and insight into what reel slide players are doing.
This last week I dug out and fixed an old Alvarez 12 string that had a cracked saddle and have been working on scales in open D. Between that and my Delphi, I think I've found a new obsession... Can't wait to tell Mac Rebbenack I'm learnin' to play pent atomic style.
