Hello All, Ive got a bean on a Delphi, for sale here on CL. It looks good and the price is right. Supposed to meet up in the AM. neworleans.craigslist.org/msg/d/national-resophonic-steel/6258323216.htmlI'm wondering why this particular model retails for half of what a style O does and if anyone has any thoughts, experience caveats etc. I'm now going to try and substitute the words "guitar acquisition syndrome" for "manic depression"... Oy Caramba! Many TiA Jeff

Hi there !
The powdercoat finish is not everyone's favourite BUT when I got my Delphi, back in 1996, I was delighted with it. A few in less desirable colours, I'd say, like the green one and light grey. Check the year as after about 2008, it should likely have a hot-rod cone in it. The original tuners never were great but lots of oiling (or better, tri-flow type teflon in evaporating medium lubricant) improves them no end). Still a great guitar especially if you can get it at a good price. One word (sort of !) - bomb-proof !!

Apologizing for hijacking the thread.. should i be lubricating my stewmac tuners on my MM with anything? No need to apologize... I'm the worst threadjacker on the interwebs. Personally, I don't think open tuners benefit much from lubrication and using the wrong earl attacts and holds dirt so I don't worry about them unless something's wrong. If anything, like Snakehips suggested, use a dry lube. J

There is nothing wrong with the occasional application of oil for lubrication on open geared tuners. I use a dropper bottle with regular 3 in 1 oil and just one tiny droplet between the two cogs and wind it round a couple of times. I then clean up any excess with tissue paper. It is not something I do very often, maybe once in a blue moon.
I am sure we all have our own ways of doing or not doing this, but that's mine.

I now own my first National... Purty darned excited ! The guitar is in Excellent condition other than a layer of dust from sitting out in an old house under renovation. At least the inside of the case is clean and contained the original receipt. First order of biz, clean and lube the tuners ! J

I was outbid on eBay once, in the last 5 seconds, for a Delphi. I was so upset. I love the look of the Delphi, and prefer the powder finish. Enjoy.

the listing has gone now ..can you post some pics please? I wish I could... Last time I tried it was a fiasco. Bottom line, I will need to upgrade my device(s) to post photos. It feels extortinate in that i had no problem a year ago but that's the way the ball crumbles. At least my GAS appetite is sated For the time being. Next bit of consumption, a new 'puter. J
