Long story short - I left my Republic Parlour Reso laying on the bed yesterday afternoon.
Came back a few hours later to find it hotter than a hot thing and when I tried to play it it buzzed, farted and rattled terribly.
I then realised that it had been laying there in the full sun streaming through the window - cookin'.
After a very worried and restless night I tried it again this morning and fortunately all is good and it is playing properly again.
Phew! I've been very lucky!
So children, do not leave your resos out in the sun. They are made of metal and wood and move with temperature.
Be safe, PD.

Buzz farted and rattled! Sounds like me in the morning! Pretty much all of my guitars needed retuning yesterday, 5th and 6th especially. They had all gone sharp by the same amount. PD,you know you were lucky mate, anyone else have a similar problem I would suggest waiting for the guitar to cool down before doing anything. (Like letting your mobile dry out after dropping it down the kazi!) Best wishes to you all, John

If you see a resonator in a car on a hot day, you are legally allowed to break the window and have it re-homed. I run a re-homing centre BTW. TT

There used to be a little owners manual card that came with OMI Dobros, and it very clearly stated..."Don't leave me in the trunk or in the sun on a hot day"

My home is usually about 15 degrees warmer inside this time of year than winter ( dec 31 - jan 6 in new orleans ) Every season Ill go through the guitars and if nothing else, tune them a little slack.
