I recently came across an interesting Dobro I'm trying to ID and date. I don't currently have a photo and there's no serial # that I can find. It appears to be a Model 37, but the body (Kay made I think) is the same shape as my Model 45 (photo attached) and a National El Trov. I've not seen a 37 with that body and couldn't find one in Mark's book. It's all Mahogany and it's bound front and back as well as the neck. There are 3 holes at the base of the fretboard, and the fretboard has 5 dot markers below the 12th fret. The tailpiece is the trapeze style. It has a standard coverplate and appears to have a lugged cone and short-legged spider. It has sound hole screens rather than F-holes. It's in pretty good shape with a straight neck and proper neck angle. Plays and sounds fantastic! I may make an offer on it but need to figure out what it is. The headstock seems to have been altered, curved and radiused and has a weird "step" routed into it. Maybe someone attempted to remove a serial # at some point? The body is shaped like this:
