I am now the proud owner of a Wolfram Martin Simpson Artist Series steel slide. This is the non coated plain stainless steel one (medium size) as I was having to polish my phosphor bronze one almost daily due to tarnishing. This is a great slide. It's 63.5mm, ( a bit longer than I'm used to) but after 2days of continual use, it's fine and really not an issue. Tapered on the inside with the weight at the fingertip. It feels great and has great tone, sustain and really low string noise. It's just under 4ounces in weight but doesn't feel heavy on my pinky with the weight more at the tip. It fits comfortably on ring finger too. It really glides over the strings and my MMB is singing! Would definitely recommend and at some stage (when my playing warrants it) will try one of the coated ones. No affiliation. Just a happy proud owner of another great slide to add to my growing collection.

Thanks for the review, sounds like a good buy. Any chance of sound clips? Cheers.

I too would like a sound clip, but on a PC? (or even worse on a 'smart' 'phone)- it's pointless. The experience you get from subtly different tubes is personal as in the feedback you get from the strings modulated by the acoustic feedback from your instrument via your individual organic pickups. Your audience could care less. A few (probably more than we would care to admit) are (b)anal about our guitars but that's it. My opinion of course to be taken with a little sodium and rejected at leisure. I reckon clips are more appropriate for songs, but I'd still listen to them!

Also, if'n I was going to buy a stainless-steel slide I'd be going to Jan's emporium and I'll be headed to the "german silver" racks. Nothing wrong with Wolfram at all and all competition should keep the prices keen, but starting off with a king's ransom product and then hoovering up business with a Tesco's Value Brand offering seems a bit unfair to me. But then I'm an idealist/ softy. Until I can afford to hemorrhage cash for a Wolfram it'll be Daddyslide for me.
Yeah I know- idiot!

Hi all, David (Wolfram Slides founder) here - thought I'd drop in and reply. Hello David, As I've checked your website several times, I was wondering if you are open to custom orders (in matter of internal diameter, length & weight). Having some very thin fingers, I've generally experienced (very) loose slides... Thanks to the work of Ian & Jan, I can finally slide with my pinky, so that I can also play more chords with the three other fingers. For example, my last very well suited slides got the followings specs: - inner diameter: tapered 17 to 15mm / straight 16mm - length: 59mm Best wishes, Alexandre

Hi Alexandre,
This is not really the place to communicate with David about his products. Please contact him via his website, email, or social network sites.
Thanks

OK Michael, I effectively shouldn't have been on those details there... Next time I'll think twice before posting ! My apologies to everyone.

Differing opinions are great and lead to interesting debate. Himilayan rock salt is also available. I'm really happy with my Wolfram steel slide. As I am also with my Diamond Bottlenecks and my Daddyslide. I specifically wanted a stainless steel one this time based on tarnishing other metals. As much as I would like to put up some sound clips/videos, I don't feel my smart phone/ laptop option would do justice and allow the subtle tonal differences to be heard. I think it's really positive that there are various outlets available that all make great slides!
