Hi there ! My mate bought a 1986 chromed brass Dobro (Model 33 I think) - standard Style O type scene on front & back. The serial number dates it to 1986 (using Mark Makin's excellent book). It's got the National style biscuit-bridge cone, instead of the Dobro type cone&spider. All the metal Dobros I have seen have the large screw in the back of the body, near the neck heel - but this one doesn't have it. So, it's 30yrs old and near mint. The neck is immaculate - no wear on the frets or fretboard. The colour of the fretboard when I gave it a wipedown with Lemon Oil was gorgeous. It came out really nice after a good clean and then a polish with Flitz. Anyway, he has asked me to sell it for him as he knows next to nothing about resontors. I don't even know the value of these, in good condition, let alone this one - as it unfortunately has a dent in the bass side (up from the tailpiece. Thought of sticking it on ebay, bidding starting at £500. Any thoughts ? Pictures below :

Hi again !
It sounds very good, having put new 13-56 strings on it. As I suspected, the dent makes zero impact on the sound.
I don't have any interest in Dobros. I have a good idea about National guitar values but nothing mich about Dobros, let alone later ones, let alone one with a reasonable sized dent in the side, even though in otherwise minty condition.
Does the dent seriously affect the value ? £500 a good deal ? I have no idea !!!!

I sold mine which was an almost identical model. It has a professionally repaired broken headstock - could hardly notice, except I was honest about it. I sold it for about £350 I think. TT
