I'm looking for a good electric amp, currently everything is run through a marshall AS50D acoustic amp, which works but I'm after something more suited for electric, Ideally looking for a valve amp, I'm thinking Fender Blues Junior but I'm not sure yet, any suggestions/recommendations?

I am using a "Bugera" V-5, changed the 8' "cone" for a Jensen P8R for my 1940 Rickenbacher lap steel and ... I am very happy with it! (140 € or £ for the whole stuff) Genius. I just got da "Dick mc Intire sound"!!!!

I've got a Fender Pro Junior which has a lovely tone for slide. It just has two knobs, tone and volume :-) very loud and very bright. I'm looking at getting a Blues Junior instead though because you haven't got to push them quite so hard to get a bit of drive and they have inbuilt reverb. I've also heard that the Peavy Delta is awesome for blues and rockabilly.

Hi! To get something that is worth having(IMO) I would absolutely agree with loneyjellys suggestions. I work with a band that uses both of these amps, they sound great, are loud enough for small to medium venues and have a pretty good tone pallet for the blues to rock 'n roll genre. Chris

Hi there !
Definitely would suggest a Fender Blues Jnr. If it doesn't have to be new, you could find a used one in the £200-300 price range.
Perfect volume range for home and for small pub gigs, if you are not playing with loud drummers and bass players.

Hi again ! An amp gaining a lot of praise so far is the new Blues Baby, by Award-Session. It's a brand new amp for 2016 and is supposedly one of the first non-valve amps to really sound like a valve amp, but without the servicing costs of one (replacing expensive valves etc etc). www.award-session.com/bluesbaby-complete.htmlFor £350 you could get one of these, in a basic cabinet, or more for a fancier cabinet. However, they also just sell just the amp chassis on it's own, and you could source your own cab and speaker of your choice. There are many people doing handbuilt amp cabinets - lacquered tweed cabs, brown tolex, exotic grain (bare) wood cabs - for anywhere between £100-200. Many cab builders do ones to retrofit Fender Blues Jnrs, and this award-session amp chassis fits blues jnr cabinets exactly - so you should be open to a wide range of possibilities to get an amp with your own custom look. How about this seller for instance : www.ebay.co.uk/sch/zd-123/m.html?ssPageName=STRK%3Anull%3AMESOI&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2654Lots of choices really for an amp.

The Award Session is second to none in my opinion. I didn't want to mention it on here as Stewart Ward is a friend and it appeared to be advertising. The new Blues Baby has had great reviews?

Hi again,
For a Christmas present this year, my wife bought me a years subscription to the UK "The Guitar Magazine" - and in the latest one, there is an article about the amp designer, as well as a review of the amp - and it gets a rave review. I haven't heard it myself though. I remember I saw Louisiana Red, in about 1988 I think it was, at the Edinburgh International J&B Festival, and he played his Telecaster through an earlier Award-Session transister amp (an amp still held in high regard) - and he got a great sound through that. Mind you, Louisiana Red would sound great through anything !!!

Get an old Harmony H430 or H415. Incredible amps for the money, great tone, very suitable for blues.

The two questions I'd have before making a serious recommendation are:
1) How loud do you need to be? 2) What's your budget?
The Fender Pro Junior and Blues Junior are both great choices for relatively inexpensive tube/valve amplifiers.
