If so, there is a photo on page 54 of Cliff Carlisle playing what is supposedly a Dobro Model 45 like one I have. It's a bit of an unusual instrument and I'd love to see another one and find any info on it. Any chance of scanning it and posting it here? There may be another one of him in Josh's "Bluegrass Bluesman" book. I'd love to see that one if anyone has it as well. Thanks in advance. Here is a photo of my unusual Model 45 on the right:

Hi Gaucho,
I have had a copy of Bev King's book for as long as I can remember. I'll have to dig it out, but I have it somewhere.
I remember when those photocopied images of guitars and musicians, were the only images around of that stuff.
Many of the facts in that book are wrong, but it was one of, if not the first book on Dobros and Nationals.

Hi Gaucho Here ya go. It's actually on page 50!! Best Mark The only information Bev includes is: "...The first instrument Cliff used professionally was a small Martin guitar. Later, he used a larger Martin, then a National Tricone, a wood body Dobro, and then he had one custom built. Eventually, he sold them all except the custom built guitar" What Bev doesn't say is that this picture will probably date to around 1936 because in that year he was touring and recording with his young (actually TOO young ) son who he called "Sonny Boy Tommy" Attachments:

Thanks everyone, that's awesome to see. I guess there were at least a few that left the factory like that. I was beginning to think maybe someone had swapped coverplates on mine at some point in the past. I found this locally a little while back for 200$! Seems all original and in great shape. Had the neck reset and a set up done and it's fantastic!
