Hi Guys
i am trying to learn this song ...the slide parts are not an issue ..its seems to be the 3 fingered chords in the vocals. the tinternet seems to have various renditions all of which don't sound correct.

Try these chords, in open D (all strings open unless noted below)... 5th (string)/5th (fret) + 3rd/3rd, then slide that shape down to 5th/3rd + 3rd/1st, and quickly down to 5th/2nd + 3rd/1st. the other main chord is 4th/2nd + 3rd/3rd + 1st/2nd (removing the 1st/2nd to open once). Make sense? TT

Hi jono. The last chord (4th string/2nd fret + 3rd/3rd + 1st/2nd - it looks a bit like a regular D chord) comes when he's singing 'but since I don't have wings...' etc. And also during the first half of the harmonica solo, after which he slides the same chord up one note at a time to the 7th fret, and then pretty much goes back to the 4th/2nd + 3rd/3rd + 1st/2nd to get towards finishing it. When he sings 'I cant get home as fast as I want to', he's playing the 5th/3rd + 3rd/1st, then the 5th/2nd + 3rd/1st, then back to the 5th/5th + 3rd/3rd. The other youtube versions are terrible. How some get 17,000+ hits is a flippin mystery. TT

I'd love to play that but I don't really want to put the empty machine-head holes in my headstock.
(I'll get me coat )

so thanks to Deuce i have been having fun with this... i have stayed away from trying to play Rory stuff coz it is to damn hard!! His acoustic stuff consists of fingerpicking which i am crap at ... anyone point me in the direction of an easy to learn fingerpicking song to try and get my head round it? His electric stuff is also a nightmare..i find SRV much easier to play ...
